Rachel was drawn to bodywork after discovering how yoga and relaxation offered a powerful tool for improving psychological wellbeing. She first trained in massage as a way of improving her anatomical knowledge as a yoga teacher, but before long was hooked, and continued to study a variety of modalities including holistic massage, sports and remedial massage, myofascial release and craniosacral therapy. Her work is now a blend of a variety of techniques that best meet the needs of each individual client.
As well as working at Shine, Rachel is part of the team at Great Ormond Street Hospital offering wellbeing services to the staff. In the past she has worked with a range of clients, from a community clinic in Haringey with older people and people suffering from chronic pain, to offering corporate massage in major London companies, and working out of a busy sports massage clinic. As a musician herself, she also has a particular interest in working with musicians with performance related aches and pains.
Rachel’s training includes a BTEC level 5 in Sports and Remedial massage, a diploma in Craniosacral therapy from the London College of Craniosacral therapy, diplomas in Thai massage, ongoing training in Myofascial Release with MFR UK, as well as further training in massage including pregnancy massage, and working with people with cancer. She is also pursuing her interest in the connection between mind and body and is currently on the third year of a five year MA in Gestalt Psychotherapy.
