4th Myth: “I am too old”

Fact: You are never too old to try something new! As long as you are capable of contracting your pelvic floor muscles, you can enjoy the benefits of a PF exercise routine. As you get older you might find you develop embarrassing symptoms such as anal and/or urinary incontinence. PF exercises can help slow this down.

Some elderly people – and others – find it difficult to lie down. Don’t let that put you off. I tailor every exercise programme to the individual. I will gently help you find the best position in which to do the exercises.

However, you should not try the exercises if you have permanent nerve damage or any advanced degenerative neurological condition affecting the pelvic area. If you think you have any such condition, or if you are in any way unsure, you must consult your GP.
