Epionce Lite Refresh Peel
Skin Peel at Salon North London
Have you ever wanted to try a facial peel but felt nervous about the outcome or what’s involved? It’s understandable that if you don’t know what types of acids are used, what might happen to the skin, what is most suited for your skin type, it can feel overwhelming.
Allow Hayley D’Arcy to explain everything that you need to know about this amazing peel now available with her at Shine. Epionce skincare is a physician-strength skincare line created by clinical dermatologist, Dr. Carl Thornfeldt. Epionce is rooted in science and integrates over 20 years of clinical skin research.
How Does It Work?
The products are formulated to help unlock the intrinsic functions and potential of your skin and uses a blend of botanical ingredients that dissolve dead skin cells and clean out pores to reveal healthier skin and improve the visible effects of skin ageing. These botanical ingredients incorporate powerful antioxidants with barrier boosting cholesterol, ceramide, and free fatty acids in proven concentrations to improve the overall health and appearance of the skin.
The Epionce Lite Refresh Peel is an ideal facial treatment for anyone new to peels or for anyone searching for a lighter strength peel to boost the condition and refresh their skin rather than shed their skin before a special occasion or event.
Because the skin does not require any downtime, it is suitable for most skin types and does not result in any skin shedding. It leaves the skin refreshed, slightly pink due to erythema (a natural skin response to the stimulating and active ingredients applied to the skin. These ingredients can trigger an increase and the dilation of blood vessels and vascularity which can give the skin a pink/red appearance, which fades within 1-2 hours) and smooth with an increase in hydration and an increase in the ability to continually hydrate the skin and encourage cell turnover.
Peel benefits include:
- A reduction in dark spots and fine lines.
- Deeply hydrates the skin.
- Provides a smooth base for skincare and makeup.
- Improves congested and acne prone skin due to pore clearing beta-hydroxy acids (BHA’s), chemical exfoliants that ‘unglue’ bonds holding dull dead skin on the surface and help remove these from the epidermis (top layer of the skin).
- Contains salicylic acid which minimises the plugging of follicles through its ability to be oil soluble and lift debris.
- Excellent for acne, rosacea, and hyperpigmentation skin types.
- Contains malic acid which penetrates slowly and is suitable for sensitive skin types.
- Brightens dull, uneven skin.
- Reduces pore size by stimulating the tightening affect of the pore and refines skin.
What to expect:
The peel procedure takes 45 minutes but sometimes longer depending on the time the peel stays on the skin, or the number of layers required - additional layers of peel solution can be applied on the second treatment, once the results of the initial peel are seen. The facial peel starts with a full cleanse, but it is helpful to arrive with no makeup to allow for the maximum amount of time to be spent on the peel procedure.
Prepping the skin comes next, protective eye shields are placed, and barrier cream applied to sensitive areas around the eyes, brows and nose.
Once prepped, the Lite Refresh peel is applied to the entire face for 10 minutes and the sensation is discussed throughout to minimise any rapid heat or tingling. A mild increase in heat is normal and so is a slight pinking of the skin. All sensations are closely monitored, and the peel can be neutralized at any point which stops the peel process if the sensations become too much.
Once neutralized, the peel solution is completely removed with cold water and cleansing gel. A thick, firming, cooling mask is applied to the face until any erythema or heat has reduced. To finish the facial, a nourishing oil and moisturiser are applied followed by an SPF.
It is normal to experience mild tingling and tightness post treatment, but this should subside within 24-48 hours. It is also common to experience some temporary dryness and slight flaking, usually around the nose and corners of the mouth which can be calmed with a Vaseline based product.
The Epionce Lite Refresh Peel is a safe and effective peel for all Fitzpatrick I - VI skin types. The Fitzpatrick scale is a widely used method for determining skin types, which is helpful in determining appropriate facial and skin treatments.
*Contraindications do apply, so a brief consultation and questionnaire are important to complete prior to having a peel*
