Common Sports Injuries

 Conditions and Treatments

Here you can find a greater understanding of common conditions that are not always Sport related but can
be caused by all different activities that we do. Complementary therapies offer great solutions to aiding pain relief and forms of rehabilitation from injury. However it is vital for you to see your Dr for a medical consultation, or to the hospital if you suffer a severe injury. We always welcome people to come and see our Practitioners to gain the advice and treatment that we are qualified to give, but it may be necessary for you to be sent for a Scan, X-ray or check up first.

Seek medical advice for serious injuries.

What is the RICE Method?

Rest – Ice – Compression – Elevation: This is an essential method of relieving acute pain such as swelling from falling over and twisting your ankle in the first 24-48 hours . Its always best to lay the ice on the injury instead of placing the weight onto the ice. If the affected area is on the back of your leg, roll onto your stomach and place the icepack on top.

Common Sports Injuries

An important rule of thumb for any injury is, if it still hurts, stop doing it! Rest is the best thing that you can give yourself in order to let the body heal. Listen to the instructions your body is giving you. No pain, no gain, may be an appropriate mantra when doing that extra sit up, but not when you are trying to rush back into an action that involves an injured part of you.
