Biography

Josephine is a licensed acupuncturist who has been in clinical practice since 2002. She is a member of the British Acupuncture Council, working in accordance with the highest standards of ethical, professional, and safe practice. She trained at the University of Westminster, where she completed a BSc (Hons) in Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture.

Josephine welcomes people with a wide range of health concerns and maintains a broad general practice. She has a particular interest in supporting people living with chronic pain and long-term conditions, such as fibromyalgia and migraine, and in the role acupuncture may play as part of an integrative approach to care. Her work is informed by traditional acupuncture theory alongside current research, and treatments are developed collaboratively, taking into account each person’s health history, priorities, and any ongoing medical care. Bridging traditional wisdom with contemporary scientific understanding forms a strong and trusted integrative foundation for her practice and shapes her treatment plans.

For over two decades, Josephine was an integral member of a multidisciplinary team at one of London’s leading fertility clinics, working closely with gynaecologists, nurses, midwives, nutritionists, and hypnotherapists. Learning from colleagues with diverse perspectives and experience profoundly shaped her development as an acupuncture practitioner and continues to inform her collaborative, patient-centred approach. During this time, she had the privilege of supporting couples and solo parents-to-be, offering inclusive and respectful care at all stages of their journey.

Her interest in women’s health began during her training, when she explored women’s experiences of using acupuncture for birth preparation. This early focus has continued to develop throughout her career, and she has since worked with women through fertility, pregnancy, parenthood, and into perimenopause and menopause, always alongside appropriate medical care.

Alongside private practice, Josephine has worked in a range of clinical settings, including NHS multi-bed environments, and more recently helped establish a community acupuncture pain clinic within a central London GP surgery. These roles reflect her commitment to widening access to acupuncture and to working within primary care and multidisciplinary contexts.

Josephine is also deeply committed to education and professional development. She is a member of the teaching faculty at the City College of Acupuncture, where she works as a clinical supervisor and module lead. Her interest in research and evidence-informed practice includes contributing to Electro-Acupuncture by David Mayor through research translation and data collection.

Committed to lifelong learning, Josephine regularly undertakes postgraduate training and continuing professional development to ensure her work remains thoughtful, responsive, and up to date. She also offers professional supervision, having completed formal supervision training, and is a member of the Supervision and Mentoring Network for acupuncturists and integrative health practitioners.

A long-term resident of Stoke Newington, Josephine is deeply grateful to be able to offer acupuncture within the community she knows and loves. She places great importance on listening carefully and working respectfully with each person she supports.
