Biography
Valeria has been a complementary therapist for over 30 years, a registered acupuncturist and nutritionist, a shiatsu practitioner, and a professional Health Coach. She specialises in evidence-based integrated healthcare and lifestyle medicine, and is highly experienced at treating patients with fertility, pregnancy, long-term health, and age-related conditions.
Valeria's qualifications include a BSc (Hons) TCM Acupuncture (University of Westminster), a Master’s degree in Human Nutrition (St. Mary’s University, Twickenham), and a Diploma in Health and Wellbeing Coach (Health Coaches Academy). She is a fully insured member of the British Acupuncture Council and an Associated Registered Nutritionist (AfN).
Since 2010, Valeria has been a resident acupuncturist at the renowned Zita West fertility clinic, working closely with gynaecologists and midwives, providing individually tailored care throughout IVF and other assisted reproductive treatments. She also supports individuals and couples trying to conceive naturally.
Valeria has been working at Shine on the Green since 2009, practicing as a ‘generalist’ acupuncturist, helping people experiencing musculoskeletal pain, headaches, digestive and psycho-emotional health conditions, as well as bringing her experience in the fertility field. Over the decades, she has developed a special interest in working with all stages of pregnancy and conditions including nausea, pelvic pain, and breech presentation, using both shiatsu and acupuncture. She offers sessions to help with labour preparation and the easing of childbirth. Her holistic approach, framed by the lifestyle philosophy underlying Chinese Medicine, combines acupuncture treatment with additional interventions such as massage, dietary therapy, and movement when required and according to the specific needs of the patient.
As a shiatsu practitioner, Valeria worked for over six years in a project dedicated to supporting women living with HIV and their children. A qualified swimming coach, her teachings and work experience with hydrotherapy rehabilitation specialists led her to train in Watsu (water Shiatsu) at the Worldwide Aquatic Bodywork Association (California, 1999). Between 2009-2016, she ran on behalf of a Hackney-based charity, NHS acupuncture projects targeted at people on low incomes and long-term health conditions, as well as an acupuncture clinic for Homerton Hospital Sickle Cell patients.
Valeria has completed extensive training in adjunctive acupuncture techniques such as moxibustion, electroacupuncture, and cupping with world-renowned teachers. She is up to date with the most current research in the Women’s Health and fertility field, and furthers her continuing professional development with acupuncture and nutrition post-graduate training.
Valeria also offers online stand-alone nutrition and health coaching sessions for fertility, IVF, and pregnancy support.
“I have had the pleasure of working with Valeria since 2013, helping most of our common patients overcome infertility.
