Why am I so tired all the time?

Why am I so tired all the time?

If that thought has been quietly following you around lately, you’re not alone.

It often shows up in small ways at first.
You wake up already feeling like you haven’t quite rested.
You rely on coffee to get going.
By mid-afternoon, your energy dips and your focus goes with it.

And at some point, you start wondering: “Is this just part of getting older?”

Here’s the thing — midlife does bring change. But feeling constantly tired, flat, or not quite yourself isn’t something you simply have to accept.

What I see time and time again in my work with women in perimenopause and menopause is this:

Key Takeaways

✔ This isn’t about willpower.
✔ And it’s not something you fix by doing more or pushing harder.
✔ What your body needs in midlife is support, not pressure.
✔ Hormonal changes can affect sleep, the ability to cope with stress and how we produce energy.

It’s not just hormones. And it’s not just that you’re “busy”.

There’s often a deeper piece that gets overlooked — how your body is managing energy day to day.

During this stage of life, shifts in hormones can affect things like:

  • how steady your blood sugar is
  • how well you sleep (even if you’re in bed for hours)
  • how your body responds to stress
  • how efficiently you actually produce and use energy

Then real life layers on top:

  • Irregular meals.
  • Grabbing something quick between things.
  • Long gaps without eating.
  • Late dinners.
  • Interrupted sleep.

None of these are “bad habits” — they’re just life. But together, they can leave your body constantly trying to catch up.
And that’s when you start to feel it: low energy, cravings, brain fog, irritability… that sense of not quite feeling like yourself.

What’s important to understand is this:

This isn’t about willpower. And it’s not something you fix by doing more or pushing harder. In fact, that approach often makes things worse. What your body needs in midlife is support, not pressure.

Small, consistent shifts can make a real difference:

  • eating in a way that keeps your energy more stable
  • reducing those big peaks and crashes
  • giving your body a more predictable rhythm
  • supporting sleep and recovery where possible
  • Nothing extreme. Nothing rigid. Just a different way of working with your body instead of against it.

If this resonates with you, I’ll be running a short online session with Shine this month:

“Why am I so tired? The metabolism–hormone connection”

We’ll look at what’s really going on behind your energy dips — and, more importantly, how to start supporting your body in a way that feels realistic, doable, and actually makes a difference.

If you’re tired of second-guessing what your body needs, this will give you a much clearer starting point.

Join me on Wednesday 27th of May at 7pm UK Time.
